SmartGlow Nucleic Acid Stain is ideal for excitation of nucleic acids with UV or visible blue light transilluminators. Unlike EtBR, SmartGlow it is non-mutagenic and does not require special methods of disposal. SmartGlow PS (Pre Stain) can be used as a direct replacement for Ethidium Bromide in agarose and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The stain emits green fluorescence when bound to dsDNA, ssDNA and RNA. SmartGlow PS exhibits excitation peaks at 290nm and 490nm, allowing it to be used with UV and blue light. SmartGlow LD (Loading Dye) is supplied at 6X concentration and is added directly to the samples. No dye needs to be added to the gel or running buffer. After electrophoretic separation, view and document your results using a UV or blue light illuminator. SmartGlow LD emits green fluorescence when bound to dsDNA, ssDNA and RNA. Hoechst dyes are cell membrane-permeant, minor groove-binding blue fluorescent DNA stains. These dyes are widely used in cell cycle and apoptosis studies as nuclear counterstains. Hoechst 33528 is slightly more water soluble than Hoechst 33342. The dyes can be used to stain live or fixed cells in buffer or medium at 1 ug/mL, with no wash step required. A Nucleolus is one of the structures forming a nucleus and becoming the starting point of the ribosomal biogenesis. There are many ribosomal RNA (rRNA) in the nucleolus and transcription of rRNA and processing are carried out. Whereas the morphological change of nucleolus is known as one of the indicators of cancer diagnosis, there have been some scientific reports describing the relation between nucleolus and DNA damage, autophagy, virus infection, and cellular senescence. Nucleolus Bright dyes are small molecules and they bind to RNA in the nucleolus to emit fluorescence. The nucleolus can be observed without any washing steps after staining with Nucleolus Bright dyes. We recommend to co-stain with DAPI in order to image the nucleolus clearly.
